What is Amsterdam Film eXperience?
The Amsterdam Film eXperience (AFX) is an annual international short film festival. Our next screening event will take place in Amsterdam on November 7 2008, at the Occii http://www.occii.org
The AFX aims to promote Amsterdam as a hub for up-and-coming local as well as international film makers, artists, and performers. In the last couple of years the Netherlands have become a hot-bed for innovative ideas in the area of video and media art. Cities like Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Utrecht are bustling with a new breed of talent eager to explore cutting-edge techniques in film and the audio-visual arts.
New media, multi-media, video art, experimental film, ... the boundaries between film, video, and other audio-visual mediums have become more and more blurred in the past few years. New labels have been applied in order to try and classify what is essentially multi-disciplinary.
We want to showcase works by filmmakers, audio-visual artists, VJs, webdesigners, gamers, television producers, advertising creatives, musicians, as well as performance artists. And everyone else who seeks to be stimulated and agitated by film.
